Modus Games just announced a new retro-styled Double Dragon game coming this summer.

In Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, both Billy and Jimmy Lee return to put the smack down on some bad guys, but they aren’t alone. According to the game’s website there are a total of thirteen playable characters, including the Dragon twins, Marian (who was kidnapped in the original game), Uncle Matin and nine others you’ll have to unlock. The game will support two-player couch coop for old school after school action.

The graphic style reminds me very much of TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, which overall is a really good thing. Double Dragon sequels have tried a lot of different graphic styles over the years, but this almost-chibi-cute style might just be the look the Dragons have needed.
