Overall, Nuclear Blaze is a very fun 2D action platformer with light Metroidvania elements that both looks and sounds great, and is a joy to play. For retrogamers this is a must play, but even for modern gamers this is certainly worth a look. The graphics are pixel-based but, much like the game Dead Cells, are still good looking enough to be compelling in 2023. How is Street Fighter 6? Well outstanding actually. Herodes is a budget-priced title, so your expectations should scale accordingly, and as a budget title it’s a very decent experience, with good looking environments, an interesting plot, multiple ship power ups and a robust level of challenge. For any retro shmup fans who don’t mind an interesting, more casual experience, you should definitely give this game a look. Less than 24 hours after the announcement trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 reboot dropped, there was an unintentional leak of the fighters (kombatants?) planned for the Kombat Pack, which is a pack-in with the Premium and Kollector’s Edition versions of the game. Tiny Dragon Story is unexpectedly good, combining solid graphics, music, sound, controls and level design into a complete retro-themed experience. I was already looking forward to the next MK coming this year but after today’s trailer I’m beyond hyped for the next chapter. Happy to finally get my copy of Mad Mike for NES 😄🙌 TMNT Splintered Fate is a console-quality game on mobile that combines Hades-like gameplay with great graphics, solid voice acting and a compelling story. For fans of Hades and TMNT this is a no brainer, and if you aren’t already a member of Apple Arcade, this might be the push you needed. Herodes is a great looking 2D side scroller pixel art shooter with a plot that roughly reminds me of Fantasic Voyage. I just recently picked it up for Switch and can’t wait to play it. Review coming soon.
